FAQs

Nurses & CNAs Per Diem/PRN

All per diem positions require at least 1 year of experience since no training is offered. Some facilities may require 2 years of experience.  For a CNA, it is preferred to have at least 6 months of experience.  This may vary depending on the facility and setting. Learn More.

To work per diem, it is preferred that a clinician resides within a 1.5-hour commute. The hospitals and long-term care facilities we work with can confirm shifts 1.5-2 hours before the start time and we want to make sure you have enough time to get there for your shift.  Anyone within 50 miles commute is considered local and will therefore not be eligible for stipends.

It depends on the facility and whether they have a set orientation schedule. It usually takes 2-3 weeks from the time your application is submitted to when you can pick up your first shift.  You will need to be fully compliant based on our Joint Commission standards and best practices.  The sooner you complete onboarding, the sooner you can pick up shifts.  Our Human Resources team will help you along the way.

The answer is yes!  If your contract brings you to the area for at least 8 consecutive weeks and can provide 4 days of availability per month. Learn More.

We prefer that you provide a minimum of 4 days of availability per month. If something comes up and your availability changes, we ask that you let your recruiter know as soon as possible.  If you go 90 days without a shift, you’ll be automatically inactivated.

Yes. The preference of 4 monthly shifts is not tied to one facility.  Needs approval following a discussion with your recruiter. Learn More.

Work shifts based on your schedule.  Once you have established your LEAP profile here and completed onboarding, you will have access to open shift reports.  If you don’t see a shift available on the day you want to work, you can also provide your availability to work that day, so you’ll be matched as soon as a shift becomes available.  Providing your availability and communication with your recruiter will be key.

You’ll be paid weekly via direct deposit. Every Friday is payday! Per diem shifts are paid at just the hourly rate. There are no reimbursements or stipends for travel available.  Local contracts are all hourly pay. Local contracts aren’t eligible for additional stipends for meals, travel, or housing. Your recruiter will provide more information.

Yes, if you’re on a full-time assignment, we offer medical, dental, vision, and life insurance and 401K. Learn More.

There are options for drop-in childcare in most areas (see Resources page for options in the Fargo-Moorhead area).  Plan ahead and research the drop-in center.  It would be worth a visit to the facility so that you feel comfortable with the care your child(ren) would receive.  We recommend that you have a backup plan in place.  It could be a secondary babysitter or daycare provider, a family member or the drop-in childcare provider.  In extenuating circumstances, if childcare falls through, you will need to follow the “Call In” policy. Learn More.

The timecard is a printable document on the website under the Resources tab, viewable here.  You can also stop into the office to pick up the paper copies.

Timecards are due by noon on Mondays. In order for the timecard to be processed it MUST be signed by the facility supervising healthcare professional.  The timecard should also include your NAME, the name of the FACILITY, DATES and TIMES worked.

All staff should call 701-478-3460 and speak with the on-call recruiter to discuss any emergencies (call-ins, late, etc). The recruiter will give direction from there. Staff are expected to call Converdia 4 hours before their scheduled shifts.

Nurses & Travel CNAs

The first step to becoming a travel nurse is setting up your LEAP account through our Converdia Health Website. Once your profile is complete, a recruiter will reach out to help you begin. Your recruiter will guide you throughout the process, learn more about your goals, and find you a placement. Throughout your travel contracts, your recruiter is there to be a helping hand. Start by looking at our job board. Filter by your preferred specialty and location. Once you have created your LEAP account, your recruiter will work with you to help you find the right job for you!

Here are a few things every traveler will need to work with Converdia Health Staffing:

  • At least one year of nursing experience in your specialty.
  • Active state nursing license — Our team can assist in this process.  You can also refer to our resources page to get the process started.
  • Preferred American Heart Association certifications – ACLS, BLS, etc. (varies by specialty).
  • Must be willing to work a full-time travel assignment — at least 36 hours a week.

Keep in mind that some travel nurse assignments may have facility-specific requirements.

There’s no hard-and-fast rule regarding the best time to apply. If you know you are ready to travel or will be soon, we recommend you create your LEAP account by filling out an application online.  If you decide to apply in advance of when you’re ready to start traveling, we’ll keep your information on file and stay in touch.

Assignment/contract lengths vary, but they’re typically around 13 weeks. If you’re interested in an assignment that is longer or shorter than 13 weeks, discuss your options with your recruiter. We have contract assignments that are 4, 6, and 8 weeks long,  Travel nursing can be flexible.  It’s also possible to take a break between assignments.  Having options is a great way to work when you want and where you want. Learn More.

While ER, OR, ICU, med surg, telemetry, and labor and delivery tend to have the most jobs available consistently, demand does fluctuate.  Search our job board to see what travel jobs are currently open.

We get this question a lot.  It’s definitely possible! Even if your travel partner or significant other isn’t a nurse, it’s very possible to figure out a way to travel together!  Important to communicate your wants and needs with your recruiter so we can aid you in your preparations.

Yes, you can!  The main challenge when traveling with a pet is often finding housing. There are pet restrictions in some buildings, but there are options out there to be found.  A housing stipend will allow for a housing search on your own that is pet-friendly.  We’ll always do our best to accommodate your pets. Be sure to communicate your wants and needs with your recruiter ahead of time so that they can help you prepare!

There are plenty of options when it comes to travel housing. To learn more about the types of housing available to you, see our Resources page on our website. Learn more on how to find housing as a travel nurse here.

Travel nurse pay varies for many reasons. These reasons include specialty, location, benefits, whether a traveler takes company-provided housing, and more. There’s no “set pay” for any specialty. Wondering what jobs for your specialty are paying right now? Apply today and create a LEAP account to view all our open jobs, estimated pay packages, and detailed facility information. If you aren’t quite ready to travel yet – still follow through on the application and we can notify you when your ideal contract is open.

Converdia Health Staffing offers many benefits to travel nurses. A full benefits package, like medical, dental, and vision insurance plans and 401K plans are available to travelers. After 30 days of the contract, travelers are eligible for all benefits. Learn More.

At Converdia Health Staffing, you have a team to help you throughout your travel nursing career. In addition to your recruiter, you’ll have a human resource specialist and a payroll representative to provide their expertise.

Orientation with your healthcare facility will be conducted by a representative at the facility.  The length will vary from one facility to another. The expectation with the orientation is that it will enable you to understand procedures and policies in order to provide the best care possible for the patients/residents.  Your team at Converdia will find the best match for your interests and skill set.
