What is it?
Every August, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) sponsors National Health Center Week (NHCW) to celebrate and increase awareness of America’s nearly 1,500 Community Health Centers (CHCs). National Health Center Week is an opportunity to highlight the commitment and passion of Community Health Center staff, board members, and supporters who make it possible to provide quality, comprehensive healthcare services to more than 32.5 million patients across nearly 16,000 communities annually.
Purpose & Significance:
Raise Awareness of the vital role CHCs provide to communities
Celebrate the CHC Community (staff, board members, patients, etc.)
Engage Communities through local appreciation events
Each day of the week highlights a different part of the health center mission:
These focus themes allow health centers to align outreach, local events, and advocacy efforts around each area.
How to Engage in Fargo and Surrounding Areas
- Visit your local health center during the week for wellness events.
- Participate in free screenings, health fairs, or informational events that many CHCs host.
- Thank staff and volunteers for their contributions during Staff Appreciation Day or Patient Appreciation Day, either in person or online.
- Use #NationalHealthCenterWeek on social media, share stories/photos, and tag your local CHC to amplify awareness.
- Contact local representatives to ask for continued support or funding for community health centers in your area.
